The tires that come fitted with the car are Bridgestone ER033. You're used to fighting the tyres. Not surprised you've not mentioned NVH that'll be next when things become the norm. Run in both dry and wet conditions, *If* its meant to be like this, IMO the Michelin PS4 cannot be recommended as a performance tyre. Tires & Services
The Hankook Ventus RS4 is a Extreme Performance Summer tyre designed to be fitted to Passenger Car. It has global offices across East Asia and North America. I'll happily say even more about them. Hankook Rs4 found in: Hankook Ventus R-S4 235/35-19 Tire, Hankook Ventus R-S4 275/35-19 Tire, Hankook Ventus R-S4 205/55-16 Tire, Extreme Performance.. I am not savvy in these things so asking for suggestions please. This is the replacement for the MPSS (although only available in Australia in 19" and 20" sizes) and shouldn't be confused with the PS4. They also don't 'self centring' it's the shoulders that are giving that feeling because they're new. Just to clarify did you mean PS4S's or PS4's? I bought my car with them already on and after checking the date stamp realised they were over 7 years old – replaced the fronts which had 80%+ tread on them but were showing signs of cracking – still need to replace the rears. what run flat tires should I buy for my IS300 (225/45/17). ;). I've had the RE003 on an Aurion and a 2006 STI. Thanks Richard. It is an up & coming premium brand and are the original parts tyre supplier for the Porsche Macan, various Mercedes Benz, Mini Cooper & BMW models including the BMW X5. Primacy 3 $181ea in my area. I have a set of PS4S on my V8 and they are the best handling tyres I've ever used. If it was a Honda Legend or Lexus LS400, these tyres would be perfect, but this car is supposed to feel edgy. If the Bridgestones are not going to have steering feel anyway (despite sharper response — it would be nice to have both!) Ride comfort and low noise were brilliant but the sidewalls were far too soft for them to be considered a performance tyre. Official partner of the UEFA Europa League, Uniform handling when driving at high-speed with enhanced thermal durability. So .... just when I had gotten to the point that I loved the Michelin tyres on my previous car (in that case, the PS3), it turns out that Michelin only make one tyre in the size for my new car .. Primacy LC :(. Nah it's just a Honda, my favourite brand. Googling for suggestions has given me two additional options – Bridgestone RE050A and Michelin PS4. When driven at 7/10ths to 8/10ths, unshaved Toyo RA-1 will produce similar performance and wear rate to shaved (to 4/32" or less) RA-1s. Ooops, yes Dunlops. Hankook offers a range of different tire types including Ventus for durable performance, Dynapro for light trucks, and Optimo for touring vehicles. Yes, it seems like a really good tyre (for the price at least). For a comfortable tyre you can't go past the Michelin IMO, either Pilot Sport 4 or Primacy. ;). Moreover, we reduce the problem that the load on the shoulder is weighted due to the air pressure is relatively low in case of products which pursue Fast LapTime. Show All. I notice the RE003 has a very similar tyre weight to the Dunlop SP Fast Response I currently have, which I think is great and feels very sharp (albeit grip is not the highest)... [Not going to get Dunlops though, as their prices in Australia are stupidly high.] You'll love them. They're just incredible in the wet and dry AND treadwear! For mine, they’re pretty solid in the dry. Hence my full disclosure on the tyre model and which cars we had them on :). :) Well I haven't "tried any corners" yet. Another time I drove on a set of old RE002s on another of my crappy sets of used wheels. Hankook offers long-lasting tires with unmatched performance. It's like somebody has replaced all the shock absorbers, with a much softer set of shock absorbers... Perhaps they are not run in? Bridgestone are pretty gutsy to actually publish the force vs slip angle plot (normally that's propitiatory,), which shows the RE003 makes 8% more grip than the RE002: https://youtu.be/7ONFPEZMNWo?t=4m12s {Specifically 225s make 4.8kN~480kgf of force, at 7 degrees slip angle at 38 psi... Not that that means anything to me, lol. Are Pilot Sport 4 really so "soggy"!? It seems with the PS4 that even after you tip it into a corner, you are still fighting the car to get it to hold it's line (yet there is no steering feel apart from "springiness" around centre, so it's not like you have much idea of what's going on). +1 they always compare on the drive home only...of course it's different wait till you get more hours under your belt. I was surprised how well they performed too. I have lost the back a couple of times in the wet but I blame that on the old Goodyears that I still have on the rears (only front 2 are PS4s). Apparently these come in my size :D Potenza RE-71R, That's essentially a racing tyre, JunkCrusader! They've turned it from a mushy understeerer into a pointy, responsive and highly enjoyable little hot hatch. Could it be because the tyres were only made in February, so the rubber hasn't cured properly yet?
), Why it's the Nimbus, chief starship of the Democratic Order of Planets! Although that will mean ordering from Tirerack in your small size. There's also more body roll under hard cornering, which is one thing I don't like about the car made worse by the new tyres. But like I said, no reference point, buffoon etc and still getting to know the car. While Australian Volkswagen drivers are conflicted about the Pilot Sport 4... put Michelin PS4s on my Passat before Christmas and was very disappointed. I even imported a quick steering rack from Japan for my Subaru too (now at home in an Australian STi that originally missed out on this trick part). Also, try upping to 40psi, sometimes a couple of Psi can make a big difference to steering feel. I tried the RE002 before and I didn't have any objections to them, hehe. The Dunlops are really hard wearing and great handling but noisy and also rough riders. Are you after a comfortable ride? Another win for Bridgestone over Michelin? So they must have Michelin PS4/PS4S :p, RE003 is not a wet monster or anything, but is more than capable, I had PS4's on my Skyline and they wore out so quickly and under steered in the wet, The RE003's last 50% longer and give much more predictable handling in the wet and dry. On my Nissan 370GT, having the PS4S on the fronts (I have the regular PS4 on the rears) feels very neutral and controlled. [So I changed to another set of ContiSportContact 5s] http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Michelin/Pilot-Sport-4_5.htm. My IS300h didn't; it came with a can of sealant instead. you're considering returning them?sounds a tad fickle... Bridgestone RE003s are on and within 300 metres I could tell the car felt back to normal: nice and "tight" (IMO). However, if you are one of those few (like yours truly) that value driving engagement and fun a little bit more than bettering lap times, the tyre that would get your Adrenaline pumping is the RE003. But on the other hand: But the downside is the low cornering stiffness [of the Pilot Sport 4]. FG Falcons are clumsy vehicles by their own nature anyway. Not sure. Bit of a bump to this, any updates Zapp or any more thoughts? Hope so, so far I really don't like these tyres, they seem to have ruined the car. Check out the huge tyre range and buy Hankook Tyres online or instore - Save on Hankook Tyres with JAX Tyres & Auto. An exceptional, ultra-comfortable touring tyre with exceptional braking performance though. Yeah the tyre guy was pretty adamant that PS4 were an unknown quantity on Australian roads despite their excellent European reviews and that RE003 wear vs grip ratio was excellent. It is aimed at owners of sports cars, sporty coupes and high-performance sedans and compact cars. TLDR: The selection of tyres is confusing for the tedious obsessive compulsive anorak who wishes to optimise everything! The Hankook Ventus RS4 is built with black carbon and silica to ensure the tires grip even when they get extremely hot. NVH is where I'm heading. +1 they always compare on the drive home only...of course it's different wait till you get more hours under your belt. go the RE050A.Thanks Rakddon – this helps. Zapp, have you had the opportunity to have a fang around in the wet with the Bridgestone? I’m not a total numpty (many will disagree \0/), but given this is a new car, I don’t have a reference point as to whether these tyres are brilliant or not. They are a world apart from the Dunlops which were fantastic, and built up resistance nicely. I think that calling PS4S "Pilot Super Sport 2" would be more logical, given the immense brand recognition they have built up for Pilot Super Sport. Every tyre that's not the same as the last make/model will feel different. TLDR: Some people seem to say the PS4 is grippy but no fun, even saying RE003 is more fun. Every tyre that's not the same as the last make/model will feel different, what good is having a nimble feel if they can't grip when pushed, you'll probably find over the next couple of days with wet weather coming that wet grip will restore your faith when tested. An issue with peoples opinions is that many are from numpties, self appointed pros and often comment from the drive home on new tyres which surprise surprise doesn't feel like the tyres they're replaced. The hit is grip and braking, the miss is feel and predictability. They seem pretty planted when pushed. Improved wet performance by adding silica. The special run flat-compatible rims have something different that lets run flat tyres function when the air is let out. They are a bit softer riding than the RE050's (less stiff sidewall), and with 40K km on them already it looks like there is easily 10-20K more*. I did some autocross this weekend with a sticker set of Hankook RS-4s, 225 on 15x9s, no A/B testing just notes on my direct experience with the tire. They are horrible. Some proof that PS4 is better than RE003 would be good rather than opinions.Has anyone compared the two on the same car yet ? Given the PS4 is already 2 seconds a lap faster than a RE003 (according to poster Rika-San), it's hard to imagine the PS4S compound(s^) being that much softer again, given both tyres have a similar treadwear rating. The Bridgestone feel perhaps not identical, but very, very similar to the previous Dunlops. Currently the car has Bridgestone ER033 run flat tires and they crashed out at 30k mark. (Even though are superseded designs and probably 2 year old stock though...), I know Goodyears are usually very good in the wet (at least when they are new). Not surprised you've not mentioned NVH that'll be next when things become the norm. DId you have experience with different cars? :P. I've driven on such tyres of that style before, and they are totally overkill for road use, you'd almost never use all the grip, lol. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Bridgestone/Adrenalin-RE003.htm. Great tyre, but that was coming from a very old set of Goodyear Fast Response. Stabilizes tread for long life and optimizes handling. In heavy rain, I’m treading pretty carefully. It seems it's hard to extrapolate from one car to another, and one brand and model of tyre to another... You make a pretty good point here. Explore its specs and features. I do need run flats – apologies if I confused that I do not need run flat. Hated those on my Skyline. Feeling wallowly and totally disconnected from the road (38psi, F & R, already 1 psi up from the Dunlops which were supremely planted). Thoughts on which ought to be more fun & experiences with each? Oops can’t go for it.
